The beginning of II World War – Poland

The Second World War began at 7 o‘clock in Poland in Westerplatte



German battleship Schleswig-Holstein attacked Polish position


Polish army held out for 7 days. German general headquarters was astonished that such small Polish army could hold out their position for such a long time.


Unfortunatelly after 7 days German put their flag in Westerplatte.


Nowadays there is a monument there. When sailors sail along Westerplatte they  salut towards the monument to commemorate Polish soldiers.
